Sophie post #1 You can't judge a book by its cover...(L)

I have found, by looking at the blurbs about the book along with the Amazon suggestions, many things about Shift. One thing is that the author stresses the in the blurb that sometimes, the worst things you imagine, become reality. Many of the books associated with Shift have to do with escape, mysteries, suspense, adventure, and secrets. This book has yet to win an award, but gets high praise from critics. Some examples of this are: "keen details...wonderful texture to this exciting first novel (Booklist)", "An intriguing summer mystery. (Chicago Tribune)", and "great realistic mystery...a totally believable, totally engrossing story. (Chris Crutcher, auther of Deadline)". These reviews along with the explanation and simple, yet mysterious, cover lead me to belive this is a book book people think very highly of.
